FotC – “I Told You I Was Freaky”

Picked up this today, on vinyl. Awesome packaging. Most of these songs are known by everyone by now, thanks to the amazing TV show. Theres some definite highlights on this record, among them, “Sugalumps,” “Hurt Feelings” and “Carol Brown.” There’s also some filler, including “Angels.”

TWM – Cheap Speakers, Brent Randall & Mark Bragg

Another Tuesday night, another adventure at Rancho Relaxo, thanks to Dan Wolovick and his excellent booking skills, Rancho is the place to be. Unfortunately it has horrible lighting. Either way, The Cheap Speakers, Brent Randall & His Pinecones and Mark Bragg all played a great night.

SGU – Earth

Earth has a plan for the Destiny’s crew to finally get home… after only seven episodes. I have a feeling it won’t work. Focusing on Chloe and Eli mostly, it also throws more questions as to where Dr. Rush’s loyalties lie. The episode does seem to be a middle episode where not much of the story arch is moving along, but a lot of character development continues. I just worry that Dr. Rush is going to turn into a moustache twirling villain, if they don’t let us see more of his motivations. He’s no Baltar.

Julie Doiron at Lee’s Palace

Jennifer Polk (aka History Jen) reviewed October 27th’s Julie Doiron show with Herman Dune and Shotgun Jimmie. Check it out. Photos by me.

New Record: Music Go Music’s “Expressions”

NPR’s Carrie Brownstein posted some video links on her blog Monitor Mix. I was in awe after seeing those videos. The songs were catchy, timeless, and fun. I immediately emailed Soundscapes (oddly enough thinking I was emailing Criminal Records) asking if they had it in stock. They didn’t because they don’t specialize in vinyl, like Criminal, but ordered it in for me. I picked it up today, and I really love it.
