#EV12 Day Four

This… Wow. I walked from my hotel to the Saatchi Gallery. I made sure that it was open, because it was Easter Monday, and of course, the gallery might be closed. There was no mention about Easter closings on the website, and it says it opens at 10am on Mondays, so I made my way over. When I got there, they were open, and the place was practically empty. There were more staff than visitors. It also turns out that today is Sunday, not Monday. Have I been away from work that long that I forget what day it is? The gallery was the number one suggestion from Helen, and… Read More »#EV12 Day Four

#EV12 Day Three

I began my day in London with a morning walk. I walked from my hotel in Pimlico to the Palace of Westminster… aka, Parliament. Earlier I had lamented that Canadian Parliament is so much better than British Parliament, because to tour ours, it’s free, to tour Britain’s is £15. There’s another reason why Canada’s Parliament is better… we’re allowed to take pictures. So the one above and the one below are the two photos I took. The tour was interesting. I got to see and be in the insides of the House of Lords and the House of Commons. I got to school an American on hereditary rights of the monarch. I… Read More »#EV12 Day Three

#EV12 Day Two

For those wondering #EV12 means European Vacation 2012. Much like #ORT12 was Ottawa Road Trip 2012. I went to The Tate. I liked some of the art. My favourite was this room with only a set of see through stairs on the ceiling, and a railing, but it’s all being seen from below. What I really liked about The Tate was people watching. It was quite interesting watching people staring at this object on the ceiling and photographing it. So my legs hurt. I walked a lot today. I woke up at 9, too early, but whatever… I walked to The Tate, as I figured that would be my first… Read More »#EV12 Day Two

#EV12 Day One

My father was nice enough to give me a drive from his place in Thornhill to Pearson at 6am. I arrived at the airport around 6:30, and went through the whole shebang of getting on a plane. First I had to check in, then I had to drop of my luggage, then I had to go through security. It’s a whole big thing. The plane was supposed to board at 7:55am, an hour before it was scheduled to depart. I got there around 7:15 after going through all the fun. I was happy I wouldn’t have too long of a wait. 7:55 rolled around, then 8, then 8:15. We didn’t… Read More »#EV12 Day One

Dear Toronto

Dear Toronto, Suck it. Yours truly, Adam

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R95TeZ9jE0Y&w=450&h=259] I did not expect that. I did not expect to enjoy this film. I didn’t not expect to enjoy this film as much as I did. I did not expect to enjoy this film more than Harold & Kumar 2. In A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, two friends haven’t seen each other in quite some time. A magic joint brings them back together as they must go searching for a Christmas tree. During their hunt for a Christmas tree, everything goes to hell, but they build a stronger friendship thanks to it. As usual there is a lot of drug use, children just say no. Sadly there is… Read More »A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas

Jimmie Simpson

I’ve lived in my neighbourhood for what I think is closing in on four years. I worked at Queen and Broadview for three years before that. Yet I had never been to the Jimmie Simpson rec centre. I went there yesterday and went to their Leisure Swim, which is free (all non-instructor based programs are free). It’s a good quality pool. I have no idea why I didn’t go before. If anyone ever wants to go swimming in the east-end, hit me up.

Magnetic Fields at The Sound Academy

Did you know that security sucks at the Sound Academy? For those unaware, The Sound Academy is the worst venue in Toronto. Situated at the foot of Cherry Street, The Sound Academy is a large warehouse with bars, shitty sound and worse sightlines. After seeing Belle & Sebastian there1 I vowed never to return. However, I knew I would break that for three bands, Belle & Sebastian, The Magnetic Fields, and The Beatles. Fortunately, Belle & Sebastian felt they needed to apologize to their fans for having played there before, so I don’t imagine they will play there again. Unfortunately The Beatles aren’t touring. However, The Magnetic Fields are touring,… Read More »Magnetic Fields at The Sound Academy

An Open Letter to Mayor Ford

Dear Mayor Ford, You love subways. I love subways. Subways, subways, subways. Is there anything better than speeding down a dark tunnel underground? Sure shootin’ there ain’t. And so, with your magical powers of wanting a subway, and granting a subway, I ask you, Mr. Mayor, will you please build a subway from my home directly to my work? See attached map…

CMW at Sonic Boom

It’s Canadian Music Week time, once again. And once again, there’s not much that interests me. Sonic Boom, however is hosting days of afternoon and evening shows. There wasn’t much that interested me about yesterdays shows, except Martha Wainwright. When Wainwright released her first EP Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole, an ode to her father1 I was excited. It had some good songs. However, now, years later, I can’t remember the last time I listened to her music. It was shortly after that she released a full length album simply titled Martha Wainwright. I’ve always wanted to like her more than I actually do, to the point that I then purchased… Read More »CMW at Sonic Boom
