#Rocktober30 volume 04: Emily volume 2

This month I turn 30. To mark such a remarkable event, I’m spending every day of October drenched in awesome-sauce. As any sane person knows, having multiple Adams in their lives is a blessing, as is having multiple Emilys. I hung out with Emily C. last night. Seeing as I have two concerts coming up in volume 5 and 6, I jumped at the chance of a quiet night in with a friend. After an excruciating long day at work, I drove from Thornhill to Parkdale. That’s a bloody long drive. I wouldn’t want to live in the west-end. Emily made dinner, a tasty soup, and veggies, and we hung out… Read More »#Rocktober30 volume 04: Emily volume 2

#Rocktober30 volume 03: Watcom

This month I turn 30. To mark such a remarkable event, I’m spending every day of October drenched in awesome-sauce. Previously on Rocktober. Adam went to Montreal, Adam came back from Montreal… and now the continuation. So, I went out for dinner at the Old Nick with Emily (aka Watcom). Emily will be involved in many more Rocktober adventures, as she’s pretty fuckin’ awesome. I had the Garlic Mushroom sandwich, which is garlic, mushrooms, cheese, and tasty buns. SO GOOD! I love the Old Nick. Emily nearly cried with Christine (the owner of the Nick) told her that the veggie quesadilla was no longer existent, and it was now a… Read More »#Rocktober30 volume 03: Watcom

#Rocktober30 volume 02: Grey Gardens, Cold Montreal

This month I turn 30. To mark such a remarkable event, I’m spending every day of October drenched in awesome-sauce. Hmm. Not really sure what to say about the second day of #Rocktober30. It wasn’t a great day. It started in Montreal. I slept in a bit, then checked out of the hotel, from there, on the Concierge’s suggestion I walked in the rain to Cartet. There I had an asparagus and cheese scrambled eggs, with some potatoes on the side, and some fruit. It wasn’t great. Both the toast which the eggs were on, and the potatoes were overcooked. They also ignored me while waiting in line for a… Read More »#Rocktober30 volume 02: Grey Gardens, Cold Montreal

#Rocktober30 volume 01: Dreadful Montreal

This month I turn 30. To mark such a remarkable event, I’m spending every day of October drenched in awesome-sauce. Today in Montreal was fucking cold. Sadly, I wasn’t smart enough to look at the weather forecast for the weekend, so I didn’t pack much. I had a sweater-vest I wore yesterday, but no actual sweater. I paid a trip to a local shop which wasn’t great and were asking $500+ for their sweaters. I left, but before I left, the salesman had to wish me a Shana Tovah. SEE! I’m a visible minority1. I decided to visit The Bay or Baie (Quebecers don’t know how to spell). I got… Read More »#Rocktober30 volume 01: Dreadful Montreal

#Rocktober30 volume 00 – Montreal

This month (well, officially next month) I turn 30. To mark such a remarkable event, I’m spending every day of October drenched in awesome-sauce. I woke up this morning, watched the latest episode of Archer and then threw random clothing in my suitcase popped in my car and hit the highway. Getting out of Toronto was nice and easy. I had my iPod entertaining me through the drive. I put it on shuffle albums and started my Recently Added playlist. It started with Wild Flag’s debut 7″, Future Crimes. Next was The Rural Alberta Advantage’s Departing which seemed appropriate, as I was departing Ontario. From there we went to Peter… Read More »#Rocktober30 volume 00 – Montreal

#Rocktober30 volume -01: Cougar Town

This month (well, officially next month) I turn 30. To mark such a remarkable event, I’m spending every day of October drenched in awesome-sauce. Today was a day in bed. Ahh, bed, the best place in the world to be. Keeping me company was Courtney Cox and her sitcom Cougar Town. I had never seen the show, and never had any interested in it whatsoever, but the fictional character Abed’s obsession with the show got me interested. Wouldn’t hurt to download the first season and give it a chance. If one is looking for a show similar to the humour of Community, the show that inspired my taste test, you’d… Read More »#Rocktober30 volume -01: Cougar Town

#Rocktober30 volume -02

This month (well, officially next month) I turn 30. To mark such a remarkable event, I’m spending every day of October drenched in awesome-sauce. Though October, and by extension #Rocktober30, don’t begin for another two days, I feel that my negative-second day of #Rocktober30 is worth noting. First off, it’s erev Rosh Hashanah, and as such, when you work in a Jewish school, classes are dismissed at 11:30, and the school shuts down for the following two and a half days. What a wonderful way to begin #Rocktober30! I had promised my bro-in-law that I’d give him some nerd-help, but I had a couple hours to kill until I met… Read More »#Rocktober30 volume -02

Politics – City and Province

Today was a productive day. Councillors Mary Fragedakis and Paul Fletcher of wards 29 & 30 respectively held an information meeting today in Eastminster United Church. During this event they had speakers from many organizations, including the Toronto Library, Animal Services, and many other fantastic Toronto services speak about the KPMG report’s recommendations for service cuts. This event was simply the left preaching to the left. It was good to hear from these organizations, and give faces to the proposed cuts. Sadly all they talked about was “SAY NO TO CUTS!” It wasn’t anything to motivate those already against the cuts, it did nothing to move the masses. So I asked… Read More »Politics – City and Province
